It is with deep regret that on Sunday evening, surrounded by family and friends, John Wade from Brighton, sadly passed away after a long illness.

John had been involved with SAGAS for many years through his association with Brighton Astronomical and Scientific Society. He was a frequent attendee at the numerous SAGAS events over the past 38 years. He last attended the summer SAGAS convention at Horsham in July 2011. On that occasion we talked about his diagnosis of lung cancer and although he appeared in good spirits, he was nontheless, acutely aware of his prognosis.

Those who knew him over those years will talk of a quietly spoken man with a good sense of humour and someone who was always willing to help out when needed.

His loss will be no doubt be keenly felt in Brighton ASS and in SAGAS..

Our thoughts are with his family during this time.

Rest in Peace John.
